Motion is Out of Control

Playstation Move

There was coffee everywhere. I guess I should rewind a bit. I was listening to a podcast recently which was discussing Valve’s Steam Box and what we want to see in the next generation of consoles. It was when they said “more motion-control support and games!” that I proceeded to damage a lot of very expensive electronics by spitting my coffee…well…yeah we covered that part. With nothing to do with all my pent up rage towards motion control, I thought “what would an angry house-wife in the 1950s do?” and [...]

Like we announced a few days ago, tonight Ubisoft released the official Assassin’s Creed 3 launch trailer! After seeing those images it was pretty clear the new Assassin’s Creed game was going to be set in the 18th century during the American Revolution. Ubisoft has described the game as the largest project in the company’s history. Developed by Ubisoft Montreal in collaboration with six other first party studios, it has been in the [...]

Gamer Rant: My Reservations On Reserving Games

gamer-rant-pre-order-game

I have a habit of staring. Most often it’s off into the distance or down at my shoes, but occasionally my absent-minded glare leads others to think I’m interested in things (and people). Such was the case at Gamestop last week. “I see you looking at our upcoming releases. Are you interested in pre-ordering and receiving an exclusive reservation bonus?” I resisted the urge to blurt out “who are you? What’s going on?” and silently shook my head. Then it hit me. I’m almost indifferent about pre-ordering games these days. [...]

Player’s Choice – A Laundry List for Next Gen Features

You wish this was real.

One of my favourite strategies for avoiding people I don’t want to talk to is to immerse myself in my phone. Most often it leads to me cursing my way through a round of Temple Run. Sometimes though, it leads to constructive thoughts – like this one. During one of my diversion tactics, I came across a tweet by Cheat Central asking gamers what we really want to see from the next generation of consoles. It was after I had typed and erased four separate answers that I realized I [...]

The Next Level – The Last Level

mass-effect-3-profile

Although 2011 was the year of the sequel as far as many franchises were concerned, there are some highly anticipated follow-ups due out this year. Headlined by Mass Effect 3 and Bioshock Infinite, expectations couldn’t be higher for two franchises so highly decorated in awards and praise. The question at hand is: will they be great because of what preceding games pioneered or will these titles find a new way to earn what the previous installments claimed? Mass Effect is adding multiplayer. Bioshock Infinite takes place in the sky. The [...]

New Far Cry 3 Trailer and Screenshots!

far-cry-3-trailer-screenshots

Ubisoft is pumping out a lot of new Far Cry 3 media and the game is looking awesome! The Ubisoft Montreal developed first person shooter Far Cry 3 was announced last year at the E3 with a promising reveal trailer. Everybody was really excited and on the other hand also relieved because the Far Cry Series was going back home onto the tropical islands after the safari trip a few years ago in Far Cry 2. Only this island is not as tropical as it might seem at first glance. [...]

Assassins Creed 3 is Underway!

assasins-creed-3

Now that all the Assassin’s Creed Revelations violence has died down we are ready to look forward to the actual official sequel title to Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed III. And it seems like the investors in Ubisoft were asking the same questions as CEO Yves Guillemot officially confirmed Assassin’s Creed III with a scheduled release date of October 30th 2012 in a conference call with investors this afternoon. He said: “Assassin’s Creed 3 is the true next generation of both the Assassin’s Creed brand and interactive entertainment/storytelling in general.” [...]
